The Willows City Council and city administrators received praise for their efforts from the Glenn County grand jury.

The final report of the 2008-2009 grand jury was released Tuesday. Its public service committee observed several Willows City Council meetings and did not indicate any problems with them.

The report says the Willows Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) received plaques from Police Chief Bill Spears for completing law enforcement classes required of all VIPS members. The VIPS have donated 471 hours while covering 2,898 miles of police volunteer service, the report said. The VIPS also have saved the city more than 168 hours of overtime.

City Council members, public safety employees and several members of city management also agreed to reduce their annual salaries by 10 percent to help deal with reduced city funding, the report said.

“The City Council members and department heads are working well together and should be commended for their dedication for their dedication to the city of Willows,” the reports concludes.

No recommendations were made, and no responses from city officials are require
