[Alameda County] Letter: Will Alameda City Council members remain despite abuses?

A Grand Jury reported the clear abuse of power by Alameda City Council members Jim Oddie and Malia Vella

Letting Vella, Oddie stay is tacit approval of their actions
Re: “Grand jury: Elected officials caused ‘lasting damage’ to Alameda” (Eastbaytimes.com, June 24):
The Grand Jury report highlighted the clear abuse of power by Alameda City Council members Jim Oddie and Malia Vella, which has cost the city $1 million. They are now seeking reimbursement for $200K in legal costs (“Council members seek $200K for legal fees,” Page B1, June 28).
Many are calling for Trump to be impeached based on the Mueller report. I agree with those calls; President Trump has disgraced the office. Where are the calls for Oddie and Vella to step down? They have damaged the integrity of Alameda’s government, put cronyism and special interests first, and are asking residents to pay for it. Letting them stay is tacit approval of their actions and a license to repeat.
Would we get the same reaction had it been Mayor Trish Spencer or City Councilman Tony Daysog committing this abuse?
If you believe Trump should be impeached but not Oddie and Vella, then be honest with yourself: You’re favoring politics over principles and exacerbating “party-first” hypocrisy.
