Solano County Superior Court officials announced Friday the empanelment of a new 2012-13 civil grand jury.
The grand jury is an arm of the court and serves the public by investigating and reporting on the affairs of local government. It is composed of 19 citizens of Solano County and is chosen by random selection of qualified applicants.
California impanels county grand juries every year to conduct civil investigations of county and city government. A person may not serve on the grand jury if he or she is already a trial juror, has been convicted of a felony, has been discharged as a grand juror within the past year, or is serving as an elected public official.
