BENICIA — The Solano County civil grand jury issued a report Tuesday commending the way the Benicia School District is overseeing a 2014 $49.6 bond measure for improving schools.
The report came after a citizen complained to the grand jury that information about bond spending was not being released to the public and that one of seven members of an oversight committee was not attending oversight committee meetings.
The grand jury, a watchdog over local government, found the committee made it meeting agendas, minutes and spending records available on the district’s website. The grand jury report noted a committee member was not attending meetings but had been replaced by a new member. The report also suggested sending committee members to future training sessions in Sacramento.
