The city’s response to the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury report titled “Affordable Housing Crisis: Density is our Destiny” was pulled from the consent calendar for discussion.
Scharf objected to alleged inaccuracies in the report, which has already been published. He further objected to the report’s use of the term NIMBY. These objections provoked a pointed exchange with Councilmember Barry Chang.
At the suggestion of Councilmember Savita Vaidhyanathan, interim city manager Amy Chan will draft a cover letter to send with the response based on the comments staff received.
