[Kern County] Rand Water District to meet Wednesday

The Rand Communities Water District will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Rand Communities Water District Office, 501 Comstock Avenue, Johannesburg.
This is the RCWD’s first meeting since the Grand Jury’s comments were made available to the public last week. The 11-page report detailed years of money mismanagement, poor business practices, missing documents, and Brown Act violations.
The Grand Jury has given the RCWD 60 days to develop a working relationship and 90 days to respond to the presiding judge. The RCWD must meet all recommendations that were made within 120 days or they will be placed in receivership through the State Water Resources Control Board.
The agenda shows that the Grand Jury report will be discussed and that the RCWD is going to make a to-do list based off of the Grand Jury’s recommendations.
Also on the agenda is the election results and the swearing in of new directors and election officers. At the time of the agenda being posted, the election results have Cliff Kennedy, Ghulam Din and Tom Williams as being elected. The RCWD will also be clarifying the confusion on the open General Manager and/or Office Manager positions, as well as budget approval for Kern and San Bernardino Counties.
