[Marin County] Letter to the editor: Opposed to exemptions in tobacco ordinance

Blog note: this article references a grand jury report.
As a San Rafael resident, Marin County physician and parent of two teenage boys, I am concerned about the proposed San Rafael ordinance granting exemptions for the sale of flavored tobacco products in adult venue stores.
Despite California laws that prohibit sales of tobacco products to youth under 21, teen use has risen over recent years, as a variety of candy-flavored vaping products target both youth and minority groups. The “Vaping: An Under-the-Radar Epidemic” report by the Marin County Civil Grand Jury recommended “all municipalities in the county that have not banned the sale of flavored tobacco products should do so within the next year.”
The San Francisco Marin Medical Society opposes any proposed ordinance with exemptions that would result in the continued sale of flavored tobacco products in Marin County.
