CARMEL >> The Carmel City
Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday regarding the Monterey County civil
grand jury’s investigation of the city. A town hall community forum also is
planned.
At 4:30 p.m., councilmembers
will consider a request by the grand jury for production of documents, waiver
of closed-session privilege and waiver of attorney-client privilege. It also
will provide direction to city staff.
The city and an ad hoc committee
of Carmel residents both requested that the grand jury investigate city
operations during the tenure of former City Administrator Jason Stilwell. That
investigation is under way, and a report is expected in June.
The city must respond to the
report but does not have to take action.
At 5:30 p.m., the council will
hold a town hall community forum. The public may attend and ask questions of
Mayor Jason Burnett, other councilmembers, the city administrator and key staff
members.
Afterward, the City Council will
adjourn to a closed session.
The council meets in Council
Chambers at City Hall, east side of Monte Verde Street between Ocean and
Seventh avenues.
