Nevada City Police Department is not handling evidence properly, according to a report released Wednesday afternoon by the Nevada County Civil Grand Jury.
"The Nevada County Grand Jury's inspections of the Nevada City Police Department revealed a failure to handle property and evidence correctly...
"Improper handling of evidence and dangerous situations ... exist due to the improper storage of hazardous materials. In the absence of the assigned custodian, it would be difficult for any other officer to locate evidentiary items," the report summary reads.
