[Butte County] Letter: Grand Jury report cooked up for political reasons

A recent letter from B.K. Brooks headlined "Even council majority can't disagree with Grand Jury" appears to be directed to the criticism of the report that I have written.
I have said that the investigation leading to the report was politically motivated and manipulated. The resulting report is biased and should be rejected. Brooks claims that I am suggesting that "the Grand Jury was some kind of right-wing conspiracy group"
I have said nothing like that and don't believe this is the work of a right-wing conspiracy. Don't flatter yourself. This is the work of the political class.
In 2007 the city was $6 million in debt because of practices originating in the last 30 years. After the "Great Recession" hit and the city was exposed, certain people saw it as an opportunity to shift the focus to the guy recently hired. He's holding the bag.
Mark Sorensen, as a political person, saw it as an opportunity to further his ambitions by getting out in front, stomping on the lives of city workers who were just trying to play the hand they were dealt. Then, everybody that hated liberals on the City Council including the scribblers of East Park Avenue piled on.
The report, which reads more like a gossip column, has little to no credible evidence to back up the claim that city management under Dave Burkland was the cause. The report didn't investigate things such as the $10 million surreptitiously taken out of RDA by earlier city management. Shame.
