The Santa Barbara County Grand Jury is calling on the county to beef up resources for children facing mental health issues, and to do more to let the public know about what’s available.
The Grand Jury says the county needs to establish a crisis stabilization unit as an alternative to sending children to out of county facilities. It also says the county needs a temporary shelter care facility.
The report calls on the county should work to improve the response time for mobile crisis teams. And, it suggests the county create a comprehensive online listing of resources available locally for families dealing with a child facing mental health issues.
