The Napa Superior Court has selected 19
members of the community to serve on the 2014-2015 Napa County Grand Jury.
The selection was announced this month. Grand
jurors will serve through June 30, 2015.
The grand jury functions as an arm of the
judicial branch of government and operates under the authority of the Napa
Superior Court. It investigates and reports on the operations of local
government officers and agencies.
Grand jurors also have the power to
investigate citizen complaints about local government.
“This is a fascinating and unique opportunity
for citizens to learn about the workings of the institutions and people who
govern our local affairs. By performing an important government service, the
experience rewards grand jurors with the feelings that they have made their
community a better place to live, and have enhanced the freedoms we enjoy in
this country,” Judge Mark Boessenecker said in a news release.
The foreperson of the grand jury is Matthew
J. Golden of Napa. The other 18 grand jurors are Warren R. Martin of American
Canyon; Kirk J. Candland, Cynthia J. Deutsch, Kenneth Fredericksen, Julianna G.
Hart, Gregory R. Haywood, George W. Hoyer, Stephen W. Kelley, Naomi Martinez,
Richard G. McHale, Michael S. Murrell, Paul J. Roberts, Patricia M. Sterling,
Edward W. Thomas, Michael Wallace and Ross Workman of Napa; Justus C. Pickett
of St. Helena; and Edwin Oviatt of Yountville.
Information about the grand jury can be found
on the court’s website at www.napa.courts.ca.gov.
Applications for the 2015-2016 Napa County Grand Jury can also be found on the
court’s website, and can be submitted at any time.
