Required to inspect the county’s
incarceration facilities every year, the 2013/14 Trinity County grand jury has
issued a report on its most recent findings, concluding that the county jail in
Weaverville continues its fall into a dilapidated state requiring immediate
actions to protect the community, staff and inmates.
Previous grand jury reports have been highly
critical of the jail’s condition for several years and the one just issued is
no exception, finding that it remains in a state of physical decline with
plumbing, air conditioning, electrical, furnishings and structures falling into
a dilapidated state.
